Lets Play Chase:
Chasing is when two or more people shoot at the same target at the same time.
Sometimes they will all hold on the 'X' and other times one shooter will call the POA based on his read of the conditions.
Typically they will shoot a different bull after every shot.
After the GA State yards were over & we were sighting in for meters a person suggested we have a money match shooting Groups. Just to make it interesting we set up teams with each team shooting 10 shots.
Bob & I had been playing chase so we were on one of the 10 teams.
Our 1st 10 shot group (T1 .240) racked in the dough!
Some of the Teams yelled it was a Fluke & demanded a rematch.
The wind had picked up a little and Bob’s Turbo was humming but I was not sure if my 40X could repeat it’s performance – but what the heck I wanted to test some more ammo anyway.
The targets were re-hung & the Stakes were doubled to$4.00.
Target 4 tells the rest of the story – my 40X loved that test ammo!
Moral of this story:
Chase is a great way to test Ammo and Equipment and at the same time give you some insight into how others read the wind.
Know your Equipment!! In general when I play chase with bob my point of aim is at least a bullet width into the wind further than his for the same point of impact.
His rifle is what I call a 250 gun and mine is a 248. This day the wind was not bad & if I remember right I was holding just inside the black whereas Bob was holding on the edge of the X.
Different wind correction with the SAME POI.
